Discover the Wonders of Kleifarvatn Lake

Kleifarvatn is a lake in the stunning landscape of Reykjanes peninsula, only a short drive away from the erupting volcano in Geldingadalir. We will dive among bubbling hot springs about 2 meters below the surface. We’ve heard this sensation described as similar to being in a glass of Champagne. The fact that we are scuba diving in a caldera is also impressive.

What to Expect

On this tour we will meet you at Seltún geothermal area. We drive to Lake Kleifarvatn and dress you in a dry suit on the shore of the lake. Then we guide you over the hot spring, with its white and yellow sulfur deposits on the lake floor. When back on land we will enjoy some refreshments at the shore before moving on to Seltún, a nearby high temperature geothermal area on land. In Seltún we will walk along the boiling mud pots and colorful sulfur deposits before saying our goodbyes.

If you're seeking a personal touch, we also offer private diving tours on other diving locations such as Silfra, Garður, Bjarnagjá, and Davíðsgjá.

What makes this even more remarkable is the diving location - a caldera.Participants will commence the tour at the Seltún geothermal area, from where they'll head to Lake Kleifarvatn. At the lake's shore, participants will be equipped with dry suits. The guided tour then leads over the hot spring adorned with white and yellow sulfur deposits on the lake bed. Post-dive, refreshments will be served at the lake shore before visiting Seltún, a high-temperature geothermal area on land, featuring boiling mud pots and vibrant sulfur deposits.In addition to this, private diving tours are available at other locations such as Silfra, Garður, Bjarnagjá, and Davíðsgjá.

  • Participants must be PADI Open Water Diver certified or equivalent.
  • Require dry suit diving certification and a logged dry suit dive within the last two years or have at least 10 logged dry suit dives within the last two years with written instructor verification.
  • Must read, sign, and follow the online Diving Medical Statement.
  • Participants aged 60 and above must have the Diving Medical form signed by a doctor.
  • Sign our liability release form at the beginning of the tour.
  • Height should be within 150cm to 200cm.
  • Weight should be within 45kg to 120kg.
  • Must fit within the provided dry suit size chart.
  • Minimum age is 17 years (under 18 require guardian signature).
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Capable of communicating in English.
  • Prepared to wear a potentially tight and constricting dry suit.
  • Cannot be pregnant.
